On Tuesday, 27th of February 2018, Kristján Þór Júlíusson - Fisheries and Agriculture Minister of Iceland paid his official visit in Tricity. The Minister was accompanied by Kristján Skarphéðinsson - Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Industries and Innovation, Martin Eyjólfsson - Ambasador of Iceland in Berlin and Bogusław Szemioth - Honorary Consul of Iceland in Warsaw. Representatives of the Ministry of Maritime Economy and Inland Navigation of Poland have also participated in this visit, e.g. Michał Wójcik - Director of Department of International Cooperation.
In the frame of rich and extensive programme the delegation visited Crist shipyard in Gdynia, sailing ship of Maritime Education Centre of Polish Scouting and Guiding Association - Zawisza Czarny, Cold Store "Deep Sea Fishing Port Gdansk", North Harbour Master’s Office Building of Port of Gdansk Authority S.A., Deepwater Container Terminal DCT in Gdansk as well as Alkor shipyard in Gdansk. The visit was an excellent opportunity to discuss subjects on the present and future Polish-Icelandic relations in the field of shipbuilding, maritime economy with special reference to fisheries, cooperation between universities, promotion of culture and role of Poland as a key partner of Iceland in trade in the EEA, as well as with third countries.
